We advise companies on drone legislation - from the mandatory training and operations manual to the final approval with the Danish Transport Authority.
We are consultants who document, explain and act - not those who promise the impossible.
Greenland's airspace is complex. AIC B 08/14, SORA risk assessments, coordination with the Danish Transport Authority. This is our daily work - and we guide you safely through all of it, from first contact to approved permit.
Approved by the Danish Transport Authority. Covering everything from basic drone legislation to advanced SORA risk assessments.
The mandatory course required to obtain a permit for commercial drone operations. Covers AIC B 08/14, airspace structure, risk assessment and emergency procedures.
We prepare your complete operations manual and application documents for the Danish Transport Authority. Unlimited revisions until approval is secured.
Complex operations - BVLOS, above 120m, near Thule Air Base. We prepare the full SORA analysis and guide your application through the Transport Authority's special permit process.
Greenland has three different sets of regulations for drone operations - BL 9-4, AIC B 08/14 and SORA. Which one applies depends on where, how high and how you fly.

Arctic Aviation is founded by pilots and consultants with deep roots in Greenlandic aviation. We have trained more than 98 drone pilots in Greenland and prepared operations manuals and special permits for some of the country's largest organisations.
Our founder Mads Petersen has 8 years of experience as a drone pilot, holds a pilot's licence and has previously worked at the Danish Transport Authority - the same authority that approves drone applications. You're in safe hands.
It can be a bit of a regulatory jungle when it comes to drones in Greenland, but Mads and Frederik were very helpful in guiding me through everything - and the whole process with the Transport Authority went smoothly without any problems. Got my permit in 6 weeks.
I have worked with Mads for the past 5 years. Mads always takes responsibility and gets challenges resolved as they arise. We obtained a tailored permit to fly near Thule Air Base - something that would otherwise have been impossible to obtain on our own.
Fast and efficient. Got my permit from the Transport Authority in 3 weeks. The operations manual went through without any comments. Mads and Erik also held an inspiring course in Nuuk where we were well equipped to navigate a complex airspace. 5 stars!

Contact us now →Flying a drone commercially in Greenland requires a permit from the Danish Transport Authority. The regulations differ significantly from those in Denmark and the EU - Greenland has its own set of rules under Danish aviation law.
There are three main regulatory frameworks: BL 9-4 for basic private flight, AIC B 08/14 for commercial operations near populated areas or airports, and SORA for complex operations such as BVLOS or flight above 120 metres.
All requirements are documented in the operations manual, which must be approved by the Transport Authority before you may fly. You are legally bound by its contents.
You must attend and complete a course that meets the Danish Transport Authority's guidelines, providing you with the necessary knowledge of rules, procedures and safety standards in Greenland's airspace.
You must have an operations manual prepared with all relevant information about your drones, procedures and regulatory compliance. You are legally committed to its contents.
The manual is submitted to the Transport Authority for approval. A fee is charged for the review, so it is important to get it right first time.
You must have liability insurance covering damage to people, animals and property. A copy must be attached to your application.
The Transport Authority typically takes 4-6 weeks. You may not fly under AIC B 08/14 until the permit has been received.
An operations manual is typically around 80 pages and is submitted to the Transport Authority. It must contain at minimum:
It is mandatory to have liability insurance covering potential damage caused by your drone - regardless of whether you fly under BL 9-4 or AIC 08/14. The insurance must be in place before approval and documented to the Transport Authority.
We prepare all documents in approximately 3 working days. The Transport Authority then typically takes 4-6 weeks. If you have an urgent assignment, we can investigate expedited processing.
Yes. This is where you document how you intend to comply with the applicable regulations - and you are legally committed to its contents.
In principle, yes. An in-house course is possible but requires your own materials to be approved by the Transport Authority - usually more time-consuming than using us as an external provider.
It is possible, but typically requires 20+ hours of work and a deep understanding of airspace structure and risk analysis. There is no guarantee of approval on the first attempt.
We respond within 24 hours. It starts with a no-obligation chat - no commitment, no jargon.
